DVD Cover Assignment

Your Job will be to create a case cover that will slide into an existing case

Materials Needed: A ruler, pencil, eraser, DVD case with an insert.

• Choose 1 of the movies listed for your cover(a draft will be done in class):

• Research these movies and collect information that will appear on your cover. The following must be somewhere on the front, back, or spine of the cover. All text must be created in Illustrator, as well as the logos. You may include other items as you see fit.

1. Movie Title

2. 4 pictures from the movie. A collage may be done that contains 4 to 6 images. The collage will count as 1 image. Be sure that these images are changed to a resolution of 300 ppi. Make sure “re-sample” is not checked when this is done in Photoshop. You would be wise too look for wallpapers or backgrounds of the movie. This will give you large pictures.

7. Cast & Credits(Proper format must be used, see a real DVD cover)

8. An excerpt, or quote from a Critics Review of the Movie

9. A paragraph explaining what the movie is about (this could be in your own words)

10. A UPC code and ISBN number (must create in Illustrator)

11. The DVD video logo (must create in Illustrator)

12. Closed captions logo (must create in Illustrator)

13. The Movie company and logo (must create in Illustrator)

14. Copyright information (symbol, legal info)

15. Dolby Stereo Logo (must create in Illustrator)

16. Special Features Included (have at least 5)

2. Draw the outline of the cover on the paper provided. Draw it exactly to scale with the given dimensions labeled. The origin should be the bottom left corner of the cover. Measure location of objects relative to the bottom left corner. (Show your teacher once this is done)
3. Once this is done your teacher must approve the design. Anyone who begins illustrator before the design has been approved will receive a mark of 0.
4. Marks will be given for the plan. (level 1 to 4)
