CD Cover Assignment

Your Job will be to create a jewel case cover (front and Back) that will slide into an existing case

Materials Needed: A ruler, pencil, eraser, CD case with an insert.

Steps:

• Choose 1 of the 12 CD's listed for your cover. You do not have to replicate the actual cover.

• Research these artists/CD’s and collect information that will appear on your cover. The following must be somewhere on the front, back, or spine(s) of the cover. All text must be created in Illustrator, as well as the logos. You may include other items as you see fit.

1. Official web site

2. Copyright and legal information (symbol)

3. The producers of the CD and or production company

4. All of the songs on the CD

5. A UPC code (must create in Illustrator)

6. CD # (similar to a ISBN)

7. The Record company and logo (must create in Illustrator)

8. Band logo or Name. (must create in Illustrator)

9. CD Title (must be done in Illustrator)

10. Images (only 3 images may be used). Attempt to find images that can easily be changed to 300 ppi. Look for wallpaper images.

2. Draw the outline of the cover (front and back on same page) on the paper provided. Draw it exactly to scale with all dimensions labelled. The origin should be the top left corner of the cover. Measure location of objects relative to the top left corner. (Show your teacher once this is done)
3. Once this is done your teacher must approve the design. Anyone who begins illustrator before the design has been approved will receive a mark of 0.
4. Marks will be given for the plan. (level 1 to 4)
5. Further instructions will be given once you begin Illustrator
